I wrote this a long time ago... Maybe just started high-school. Reading it now... seems I've come quite a way. The events are fictional, but I still wanted to share...
Sunday Ice-cream
My daddy was the best daddy ever
always told me how much he loved me
He loved me, I knew, his eyes were his words
My daddy, to me, his eyes never lied
But daddy must have been a very nice man
Cause he loved the girl in the store
The girl on the bus, the one in the stall
He’d bring home the bread,
and he’d pay up the bills
Make sure I’d get my Sunday ice cream
Mummy left one day, and didn’t come back
Another girl, my braids would plat
She was the girl from the store, or was it the bus??
Or maybe the choir, or the ice cream truck
Yes that’s the one, the ice cream truck lady
I missed it then, didn’t quite hear his eyes talking
“lovely day isn’t it?”
“Oh, yes!!” she’d replied
he had turned back and winked…“I enjoyed last night!!”
